As we previously reported, DelFest will return to the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, MD on May 22-24. Once again, the Del McCoury Band will host the event and make numerous appearances over the course of the weekend. DelFest also has announced some new additions to the festival, which will now feature twice the Vince Herman, as he will appear with Leftover Salmon and Great American Taxi. The other adds are Dark Star Orchestra, Old Crow Medicine Show, Ollabelle and Crooked Still. They join a roster of performers that includes: Sam Bush, Railroad Earth, Peter Rowan and The Free Mexican Air Force, The Lee Boys, J.D. Crowe and The New South, Tim O’Brien, The Infamous Stringdusters, Joe Craven, Dan Paisley & the Southern Grass, the Davisson Brothers Band, and the 2008 DelFest band competition winners the Vinegar Creek Constituency. Prior to the festival, the inaugural DelFest Academy will take place on the site from May 18-21. Classes in banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar and bass will be taught by members of the Del McCoury band and other guest instructors.
