As previously reported, Phil Lesh took the stage with Michael Kang and Particle on Friday night at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. Lesh, Kang and the core Particle trio performed a set that opened with a jam that segued into ‘Shakedown Street’ and then on into ‘The Other One,’ followed by ‘Terrapin Station.’ Particle’s Steve Molitz may well revisit this material when he appears with Phil Lesh & Friends at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. In other sit-in news, we cannot let it escape notice that back on Saturday December 13, Molitz put in a guest stint of his own, as the keyboard player sat in with Vanilla Ice in Los Angeles for the Vanilla Ice Block Party. Molitz appeared on such songs as on ‘Ice, Ice, Baby,’ ‘Play that Funky Music’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Rap’ (really).
