This weekend, Tipitina’s will host its ‘Fall Funk Throwdown’ Weekend.’ One early highlight will be a late night show on Friday with Fred Wesley, George Porter Jr., Russell Batiste, Ian Neville and Ivan Neville. Then on on Sunday afternoon, Wesley, the longtime music director for James Brown, will participate in the free Music Workshop Series from 12:30-3:30 PM. At this event his band will include Walter Washington, Joe Krown, Ricky Sebastian and Batiste. Students are encouraged to bring their instruments to the on-stage workshop, which is open to the public.
