Though Mike Gordon is nine month into a self-imposed performance hiatus, every now and again hes taken the stage when one of his close friends has breezed through Burlington, VT. The latest instance took place Saturday night at Burlington’s Memorial Auditorium when the former Phish bassist emerged to play a new, oddly shaped skinny bass on covers of the Grateful Deads Loser and JJ Cales After Midnight with Govt Mule. Gordon, who has played with Warren Haynes dozens of times over the years, also played the Dead selection with Govt Mule at the 2006 edition of Mountain Jam. Govt Mule will perform at Torontos Kool Haus on October 3.
