Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi opened their first full scale Soul Stew Revival tour last Thursday at Dallas, TXs House of Blues. In addition to the happy couple, the all-star group features the Derek Trucks Band,saxophonist Ron Holloway, and Trucks drummer brother Duane. Early reports suggest that the group is mixing material from all camps involved, including Derek Trucks Band staples like Soul Serenade and Derek & The Dominos’ Anyday. Derek Trucks Band singer Mike Mattison will pull double duty, opening the outing with his group Scrapomatic. A handful of new songs, including some classic soul selections, have been added to the groups menu, such as Coming Home, Hercules, Tell The Truth, Do Yourself A Favor, Cold Day In Hell and It Hurts Me Too. The Soul Stew Revival Tour will continue tomorrow at San Diego, CAs 4th & B.
