The Flaming Lips traditionally allow a handful of early arrivals to dance onstage in-costume during its shows. But, on New Years Eve, the trio is making fans work for their pass onstage. The group is currently hosting a Flaming Lips Dance Contest, whereby fans are encouraged to submit a YouTube video ‘in-costume, showcasing…skills.’ The group is offering bonus points to fans that trek to the Flaming Lips hometown trek to Oklahoma City and use the newly coined Flaming Lips Alley as their backdrop. As previously reported, the Flaming Lips will perform at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on December 30 and Los Angeles Galen Center on December 31 with Gnarls Barkley and Cat Power.
