Over the weekend the Benevento/Russo Duo shared the stage with a number of its closest musical conspirators in a number of West Coast rooms. On Thursday and Friday the Duo played San Franciscos the Independent along with Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and Apollo Sunshine, inviting Apollo Sunshines Sam Cohen out on pedal steel both nights for Memphis. On Saturday, the paired performers moved onto West Hollywood , CAs The Troubadour with Apollo Sunshine. For the first time since Play Pause Stops release, the Duo invited out the complete choir of musicians who sang on the albums title track, including the group Something for Rockets and the albums producer, Tom Biller. Later in the evening, Something for Rockets guitarist Rami Perlman returned to lend vocals to his own ‘It’s Alright.’ The Duo also dipped into their back catalog, playing ‘Impact’ and ‘Big Whopper’ as well as a couple of other long-shelved songs Tonight, the Duo and Apollo Sunshine will perform at San Diego, CAs House of Blues.
