On Friday night at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA the Dark Star Orchestra interpreted the Grateful Deads 10/15/88 performance at Bayfront Center Arena in St Petersburg, FL. While that original show did not feature any guest musicians, the DSO version offered plenty. Indeed, three drummers appeared over the course of the night, with John Molo joining in first, during ‘Tennessee Jed’. Then the second set opened with moe.s Vinnie Amico appearing for ‘Space > One More Saturday Night’. Later during ‘Drumz’ proper, Amico remerged along with Luke Smith (who has been keeping a low profile as of late, now that Russ Lawton has been touring with Strangefolk). The DSO march to gig 1000 continues tonight at the Starr Hill Music Hall in Charlottesville, VA.
