As of late a number of players have stepped into the Akashic Record’s Wednesday residency at Harper’s Ferry in Boston. Last week Charlie Hunter Trio tenor sax player John Ellis performed, while other recent guest musicians include Eric Bloom and Sam Kininger and Jared Sims. Tomorrow night Melvin Sparks will take the stage with the group which features drummer Thomas Arey, Beau Sasser on Hammomd organ and often Roman Zeitlin on guitar. The Akashic Sessions will continue through October at Harper’s.
