Although the New Deal has announced that there ‘will be a hiatus from North American touring in 2004,’ the verb ‘tour’ does not preclude a one-off gig, particularly in the group’s home region. Thus the trio will return for a performance during the Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival. The New Deal will appear at the Toronto Star Stage Nathan Phillips Square on July 1 with Wax Poetic opening. At present there are no other announced gigs for the group (although Jamie Shields will perform some JM2 dates in June and Darren Shearer has a Toronto residency with the JOIN).
