String Cheese Incident is among the initial acts confirmed for the ninth
edition of the Lollapalooza traveling festival. The Cheese will join an
eclectic lineup that also includes The Flaming Lips, Morrissey, Sonic Youth,
Modest Mouse, The Polyphonic Spree, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Le Tigre
and The Fire Theft. While exact dates for Lollapalooza are yet to be
announced, the touring festival will adopt a two-day format this summer
as opposed to its prior single day stop in each city.
String Cheese performed ‘Idiots Rule’ with Lollapalooza founder
Perry Farrell at this year’s Jammys. As for Farrell, he will also appear on this summer’s Lollapalooza bill
under the moniker DJ Peretz. The jamband audience got a taste of Farrell’s
DJ abilities this winter when he opened several dates for Sound Tribe Sector
9 (and when interviewed at The Jammys, Farrell proved enthusiastic about STS9’s
sound, saying ‘I enjoy them- they speak in a future tense,’ so who knows what may follow…)
