Will Bernard whose Motherbug will return to the road later this month, lent his guitar to the Boogaloo n 2004 night on Saturday at San Franciscos Boom Boom Room. Bernard was joined by Bobby Vega (Zero, KVHW), Melvin Seals (JGB, Melting Pot), Donald Harrison (Headhunters) as well as the unannounced Jay Lane (RatDog). The Boom Boom Room has demonstrated an affinity for Boogaloo, for instance hosting an event last April in which Harrison collaborated with the Greyboy Allstars’ Elgin Park and Chris Stillwell along with Melvin Sparks, Joe Russo and Bobby Watley. As for Bernard, his Motherbug project will perform five shows, beginning at Yoshis in Oakland on January 26 and traveling into the Pacific Northwest.
