History (of sorts) repeated itself during the moe. show at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans on Friday. Exactly one year earlier at the same venue, the members of Gov’t Mule had gradually walked on during moe’s second set before moe. departed yielding the stage to Gov’t Mule for ‘Thorazine Shuffle.’ This year it was opener Umphrey’s McGee that came up (during the first set) for a jam with moe. and remained on stage for a version of its song ‘Glory’ before moe. returned. Later in the evening, Willie Waldman sat in on trumpet while Clint Wagner played fiddle during ‘Bring You Down’ and ‘Head.’
In other moe. news, the band performed under its moneys on ecstasy pseudonym the next night at Jake’s Toadhouse in Decatur, GA and at the Visulite Theater in Charlotte, NC on Sunday (with an additional monkeys gig in the offing this Tuesday in Syracuse.)
moe. next plays a two-night stand at Wednesday and Thursday at Mr. Smalls Theater in Millvale, PA. Umphrey’s McGee is off until Wednesday May 14 when it will perform at Oasis One-Sixty in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
