My Morning Jacket closed out their rarity-filled, career-spanning four night Beacon Theatre run in New York City last night with a 21-song setlist that saw the band once again dig deep along with offering a slew of their live staples.
Among the bustouts, the first Death is the Easy Way since August 26, 2012. The At Dawn tune has been played just three times since 2005.
Towards the end of the set, Jim James called for a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Paris attacks before debuting a cover of Eagles of Death Metal’s “I Love You All the Time,” joining Pearl Jam as a band who has paid tribute to the Paris victims by covering a tune from the Josh Homme side project.
The cover comes after Eagles of Death Metal appeared for their first interview following the attacks with VICE. In the piece, Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme vowed to donate all publishing rights to “I Love You All the Time” to the families of the victims of the attacks if covered by another artist.
The cover came before the closing pairing of “Smokin’ From Shootin’” and a lengthy “Steam Engine” before a four-song encore that included “Wordless Chorus,” the second part of “Touch Me I’m Going to Stream” which was finished from the second night of the run. “Cobra” and the highly anticipated “One Big Holiday” finale brought the run to a close.
