On Feb. 18, Antibalas released their music video for “Fight Am Finish,” the first single from Fu Chronicles, the band’s brand new album. The music video marks Antibalas lead singer Duke Amayo’s directorial debut.

“In 1803, Igbo slaves from Nigeria committed mass suicide off the U.S. coast near Georgia,” Amayo told OkayAfrica. “It was the largest known mass slave suicide and uprising. The mutiny and suicide by the Igbo people has been called the ‘first freedom march’ in U.S. history. [This video] is my vision of a Nigerian slave returning to Africa to reclaim his freedom, land, and spirit. Fight Am Finish! Never ever let go of your dreams.”

The band is currently in the midst of a Winter Tour in support of Fu Chronicles; check out the remaining dates below. For more information on their upcoming performances, visit Antibalas’ website.
