The initial performer has been announced for this year’s Jammys and he is also the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Steve Winwood, whose ‘Different Light’ was also nominated as Song of the Year will be the 4th recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Jammy (prior designees are B.B. King, The Meters and the Grateful Dead). Winwood will be on hand to accept the award and his music will provide the show’s collaborative climax. He adds, ‘It is an honor to be chosen to receive a Jammy Award. There are so few opportunities to publicly recognize improvisational music. This is a great community of musicians and fans and I look forward to being there.
