This coming Friday, Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans will host a night of zambi-infused music that will begin at 8PM and extend past the dawn on Saturday. A set by Shane Theriot’s Grease Factor will yield way to the four hour spectacle of the New Orleans All-Stars vs. the Zambi Allstars. The former group includes Theriot, Ivan Neville, Johnny Vidacovich, George Porter Jr. and Theresa Andersson. The Zambi Allstars promises an old-school ARU feel with Col. Bruce Hampton (Ret.), Jimmy Herring, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Sipe, Count M’Butu and Rev. Jeff Mosier along with Johnny Neel and David Blackmon. Hampton’s current group, the Codetalkers will follow this up with a set at 2AM, after which Mosier’s band the Ear Reverents will take the stage. The evening will conclude with a sunrise jam that also is being promoted as Col. Bruce’s Birthday Bash. Tickets remain on sale for what should be quite an evening’s entertainment.
