Over the weekend, Widespread Panic closed out its Fall tour with a four night stand at Denvers Fillmore Auditorium. Each night, the group marked its setlist with unique moments including several songs in retirement since well before the groups hiatus. Saturday night, Widespread Panic invited Col. Bruce Hampton onstage for the first Time is Free since July, 26, 2002, also offering a rare acoustic first set. A night later, Widespread Panic continued its string of breakouts beginning with a long shelved cover of the Doors Riders on the Storm, last played 10/30/99. Widespread Panic also undusted a pair of original numbers from the Michael Houser-era: Last A of D and Gimme, last played 4/26/02 and 11/20/01 respectively. During the course of the night, Dave Schools Stockholm Syndrome guitar-foil Eric McFadden also played mandolin on several numbers including Ribs and Whiskey and Mercy, while longtime Panic guitar tech Sam Holt joined in on A of D, Gimme and B of D. Both Holt and McFadden helped Widespread Panic close out its tour with Porch Song at the end of the night. Widespread Panic is off until its performance at Atlanta, GAs Philips Arena.
