In February of 2003, Rob Barraco moved from his familiar position behind the keyboards and picked up the bass while guesting for five shows with RatDog. At that time Rob Wasserman had just left the band but shortly afterwards, Robin Sylvester signed on in a permanent capacity. So nowadays when Barraco makes the occasional sit-in with RatDog he does so on keys, as he did last night at the North Fork Theater in Westbury, NY. Barraco appeared throughout the course of the evening, sharing the bench with Jeff Chimenti (as they had done in late 2002 and 2003 in the Dead) for Iko Iko, The Wheel and Brokedown Palace. In addition, Tom Pope appeared on drums for Iko and Brokedown: as he has done on occasion with the group, which will appear this evening at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, MD.
