Its seems Thursday night is trio night for Johnny Vidacovich. On multiple Sweet Thursdays throughout December, the drummer has performed with a pair of special guests at New Orleans Maple Leaf, including longtime friend George Porter Jr. On one occasion, the duo even collaborated with guitarist June Yamagishi, recalling the 2002 Vidacovich/Porter/Yamagishi album We Came To Play Tonight, the rhythmic axis of Vidacovich and Porter will be augmented by another Big Easy soul legend, Anders Osborne, who headlined the Maple Leaf himself Friday. With any luck, the trios soulful funk will stretch deep into early Friday morning.
