After a year off, the Acoustic Planet Tour is in full swing featuring sets from Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Yonder Mountain String Band and Keller Williams.
As expected, each night the acoustic inspired artists have used their outing as a forum for collaboration, with Williams offering interlocking sets with his
tour brethren on most nights. Last night, the three bands shared a joint encore at the end of the night, offering both the Cameo’s ‘Word Up’ and Yonder
Mountain String Band’s ‘Angel.’ Earlier, during Yonder Mountain String Band’s set, Bela Fleck played banjo on ‘No Expectations,’ while Victor
Wooten added bass to ‘Crow Black Chicken.’
Last night’s performance concluded a busy weekend of Acoustic Plant Tour
collaborations. On Saturday, at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre, Jeff Coffin
played saxophone with Yonder Mountain on ‘Mother’s Only Son,’ while
Futureman broke out his trademark drumitar during ‘Classic Situation.’
Friday, at San Diego, CA’s Humphrey’s, Fleck also played banjo with Yonder
Mountain during both ‘Fastball’ and ‘Fun Time’ while all three acts closed out the evening’s activities with a joint cover of ‘Tear Down the
Grand Old Opry.’ The Acoustic Plant tour will continue tonight at Santa Rosa, CA’s Luther Burbank Center for the Performing Arts.
