After making local headlines when he attended one of Levon Helms recent Midnight Rambles with Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon returned to Woodstock, NY this weekend to perform with the former Band drummer. Gordon took the stage with Helm and his band partway through their set for a version of The Bands Chest Fever, marking his first collaboration with a member of the famed ensemble. The night also included takes on The Bands Ophelia and Rag Mama Rag. Gordons next confirmed appearance will take place in Costa Rica on January 5, while Helm will stage another Midnight Ramble on December 15. He will also ring in 2008 by hosting series of Rambles from December 29-31. Of special note, the groups December 29 gig will feature a performance by Steven Bernstein’s Woodstock Mob with Briggan Krauss, Tony Scherr, Ben Perowsky and local hero John Medeski.
