Govt Mule and RatDog closed out their co-headlining tour last night at the Center for the Performing Arts in San Jose, CA. As befitted the occasion, members of both bands joined each other on stage over the course of the evening. Govt Mule opened the night and invited Kenny Brooks out on saxophone for Sco-Mule. He remained on stage with the group and was joined by Bob Weir and Jeff Chimenti for Soulshine, with Mark Karan also stepping up for the versions of Death Don’t Have No Mercy, 32-20 Blues and Fiyo On the Bayou that closed out the set. Then during the RatDog slot, Warren Haynes emerged near the close on Shakedown Street, with all three of his bandmates also appearing for a jam that led into Morning Dew. The Mule will now begin its Mighty High summer tour, while RatDog is off until August when it begins a series of dates with the Allman Brothers Band.
