Longtime Jambands.com staffer Jefferson Waful, left his full-time position at this a site a few years ago to begin touring with moe. as that group’s lighting designer. With moe. on hiatus this past fall, he began a stint with Umphrey’s McGee, while their longtime l.d. Adam Budney took time off the road. Umphrey’s has now announced that Budney’s departure will be permanent. In a statement on their website, the group explains, ‘After ten plus years of working together, our lighting designer, Adam Budney, will be moving on to pursue other endeavors. We want to take this opportunity to thank him for his contributions to the band, both artistically and personally. Always ready with a joke or funny factoid to brighten our day, having Adam on the road with us was a great experience. We value his excellent work and dedication over the years with us and appreciate everything he brought to the table. We wish Adam nothing but the best in his future pursuits and will undoubtedly continue to see him off the road in Chicago.’ Meanwhile, Waful is set to light Umphrey’s during its New Year’s Eve run, which opens this evening in Chicago, and is expected to continue his role with the group.
