On April 28, 2005, Zigaboo Modeliste drew together Stanton Moore, Russell Batiste Jr., Nick Daniels, Charles Moore and David Torknowsky for an evening billed as The Drummers Cometh. Next month, Modeliste will once again join the stage with Moore and Batiste for a show that will serve as a tribute to late Earl Palmer and will begin the Drummers Cometh as an annual event. Also participating at the gig, which will take place at Howlin Wolf on Sunday May 3 will be George Porter Jr., Kurt Brunus and Shane Theriot. The aim of the Drummers Cometh is ‘to launch awareness and unite drummers around the world starting first with the extremely talented drummers of New Orleans.’
