Ryan Adams backing band The Cardinals will tour and record with New Zealand signer/songwriter Gin Wigmore. The Cardinals formed in 2004 for Adams Cold Roses album and have undergone numerous personnel changes over the past four years. The groups current lineup guitarist Neal Casal, pedal steel player Jon Graboff, bassist Chris Feinstein and drummer Brad Pembertonis featured on 2008s Cardinology. The Cardinals also backed Willie Nelson the Adams-produced Songbird. Adams unexpectedly left the music business earlier this year and relocated to Los Angeles with his new wife Mandy Moore. At the time, Adams cited vertigo as the reason for the bands breakup and said he hoped the band would continue to play without him.
The band recorded Wigmores debut album Holy Smoke at Capitol studios earlier this year. The ensemble will hit the road next month.
