Dave Matthews Band postponed Tuesday’s appearance at Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach Theater. The group was slated to perform at the venue last night but the concert was called due to severe weather affecting the area. The ensemble will now perform at Jones Beach on Wednesday, July 29. An official statement from the band reads, “In consultation with the venue, local and state authorities and an official NWS Tornado watch, we are sorry to report that tonight’s show at Jones Beach will be postponed. The rescheduled date will be Wednesday, July 29. Tickets for tonight’s show will be honored for the new date.”
The group first appeared at the open-air New York-area space on the H.O.R.D.E. tour in 1994 and returned to headline the following year. They turned in memorable Jones Beach shows in 1996 and 1997 but then graduated to East Rutherford, NJ’s Giants Stadium the following year. They have played Jones Beach regularly since 2009. Their tour continued at Darien Center, NY’s Darien Lake Performing Arts Center this evening.
