This past year represented an extraordinary milestone for the Grateful Dead. The group debuted in 1965 and continues to inspire and elevate listeners in 2025. This vivid legacy is honored in the new Relix softcover book, 60 Years of The Grateful Dead Experience.
The book spans 160 pages and encapsulates the entire run of the group from the Warlocks days on through the band members’ recent musical endeavors. 60 Years of The Grateful Dead Experience draws on the Relix perspective and archives to build this narrative through conversations with the musicians and complementary essays. The work further attains liftoff via more than 200 photos, more than half of which are previously unpublished.
Curated by Relix Editor-in-Chief Dean Budnick and Ricki Blakesberg, 60 Years of The Grateful Dead Experience commemorates the band beyond description by pairing engrossing articles with the exceptional visual contributions of 40 world-renowned music photographers, including: Jay Blakesberg, Ron Rakow, Chloe Weir, Bob Minkin, Rosie McGee, Snooky Flowers, Greg Gaar, Alvan Meyerowitz, Susana Millman, Adrian Boot, Herb Greene, Peter Fisher, Rahm Carrington, Bruce Polonsky, Andy Leonard, Elizabeth Sunflower, Amalie Rothschild, David Gans, Elliot Newhouse, Erik Kabik, Marc Millman, Suki Hill, Kirk West, John Conroy, Patti Healy, Scott Goldberg, Henry Diltz, Jon Sievert, Thomas Engelman, Steve Rood, Mary Ann Mayer, Paul Kagan, Andrew Blackstein, Jerry Gottleib, Ed Perlstein, Dino Perucci, Dave Vann, Paul Citone, Suki Coughlin, and Neal Casal.
