Today, TOOL have given the institution of the music vacation a swift kick into full force with the announcement of the debut presentation of TOOL Live in the Sand. From March 7-9, the legendary progressive metal outfit will fly out to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for a packed three-day slate of music, issuing two headline sets against the stunning backdrop of the beach. Alongside the legions of the TOOL Army, the band will welcome a bill of nine other bands, including longtime alt-metal favorites Primus and Mastodon.
Speaking to the band’s enthusiasm, bassist Justin Chancellor states “We couldn’t be more thrilled to share the news that Primus, Mastodon, and Coheed and Cambria will be joining us for our first-ever Caribbean performance at ‘TOOL in the Sand.’ 2025 is shaping up nicely. See you all there for what should be an unforgettable weekend of music!”
TOOL in the Sand arrives not only as the iconic group’s first-ever all-inclusive event, but also its first performances in the Caribbean. After Primus, Mastodon and Coheed and Cambria, the bill will feature performances from Eagles of Death Metal, King’s X, Fishbone, Wheel, CKY and Moonwalker. The immersive experience will be further elevated with visual production from longtime TOOL collaborators Alex Grey and Allyson Grey.
Beyond the stage, attendees will enjoy the amenities of the lavish Hard Rock Hotel and Casino or The Royalton Resort, offering scenic relaxation, pools, in-house entertainment and gourmet food and beverage service. All packages feature luxurious rooms, unlimited dining and access to all performances. Off-campus activities are also up for grabs, and visitors are welcome to venture away during the day for catamaran sailing, hiking, diving and more.
In a release, Donnie Estopina (Co-Founder of event producers Festication) looks back on his personal history with TOOL, reliving a moment from 1996 that opened the door for next year’s spring getaway: “I had a sold-out rave at the State Palace with The Crystal Method and Keoki, and the venue booked TOOL on the same night. It was a mess flipping the room. There were so many people outside that the cops were going to shut us down, so we just opened the doors at the end of the TOOL concert. Anyone who wanted to stay did—and a lot of them stayed. It’s still part of NOLA lore today, and I still see people talking about it on message boards.
“Booking TOOL nearly 30 years later feels like my career has come full circle,” Estopina says in closing. “It’s incredible to go from that unforgettable night in New Orleans to now curating their first destination festival. This is the kind of experience I’ve always dreamed of bringing to fans—something immersive, intimate, and legendary.”
Tickets for TOOL in the Sand will be available first in a presale exclusive to TOOL Army members on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. PT. General onsale will follow on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. PT. For more information, visit toolinthesand.com.
