My Morning Jacket have returned today with the long-awaited latest installment of the MMJ Live vinyl series, formally slating the launch of MMJ Live Vol. 4: Terminal 5 – NYC – The Tennessee Fire 10/18/10. Set to release on Nov. 22 via ATO Records, the band’s next throwback has long been in high demand, capturing one of the most iconic sets in the live innovators’ 26-year history on a three-LP red vinyl set. To preview the collection, the band has shared a soul-searching take on “I Will Be There When You Die” as a first single.

From Oct. 18-23, 2010, My Morning Jacket took over New York’s Terminal 5 for a string of shows boldly celebrating the band’s story so far. In the wake of its triumphant 2008 outing Evil Urges, the alternative titans set out to deliver their entire discography from the storied stage, treating one of their then five albums in full every night. Now, on the eve of the series’ 14th anniversary, the group will issue a vaulted recording of night one, when it returned to its distant origins with a complete revival of its first full-length album The Tennessee Fire–which crossed its 25-year line in May.

Beyond a humble, caring and deeply affecting re-invigoration of its first foray–which was originally tracked in an ad-hoc studio above frontman Jim James’ cousin’s garage–the band tacked on a ripping seven-song encore, including rare covers of Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit,” Rod Stewart’s “Hot Legs” and Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone.” To fill out the show, the band issued a live debut of “I Just Wanted to Say” and 10-year bust outs of early recordings “Weeks Go by Like Days” and “Lil Billy.” It’s safe to say that the band’s selection of this show for a first time vinyl pressing is sound–and it’s impossible to know how they held off for all these years.

“Folks have been asking us for these T5 shows for quite a while and we finally had time to dig in and begin!,” James offers in a release. “It’s been such a beautiful DOUBLE BLAST FROM THE PAST listening to this show- taking us back to the good times we had at T5 so many years ago and at the same time taking us EVEN FURTHER back in time AGAIN to the EARLY days of the band even longer ago!”

The 2010 live version of “I Will Be There When You Die” is available on all streaming platforms now. While the band has finally rounded out its stacked year of touring, it recently shared the initial details for One Big Holiday 2025, set to return to Miramar beach, Fla. on April 3-5.
