Today, Oct. 16, in response to a surge in demand and a thrilling first few weekends, The Eagles have announced yet another extension of their residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere. The series commemorating the band’s 50-year legacy now includes two more weekend pairs, expanding the celebration to March 7, 8, 14 and 15. This update arrives as the fifth wave of new dates following the initial June announcement, which originally marked a conclusion at the end of October.
With this latest round of new performances, the Sphere residency rises to a total of 28 shows over 14 weekends. The run kicked off on Sept. 20, and the storied band has worked up some momentum with six shows so far, lining setlists with such timeless classics as “Hotel California,” “One of These Nights,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” “Desperado” and “Heartache Tonight.” Beyond Eagles trademarks, the show incorporates a range of hits from its core members, including Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” and Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good” and “In the City,” originally released as the centerpiece of the soundtrack for the 1979 cult classic The Warriors.
The Sphere residency follows The Eagles’ 2023 The Long Goodbye Tour with Steely Dan, billed then as the band’s last stand. In a statement accompanying the announcement of that sprawling farewell to the road, the band offered: “The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds… We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages.”
The statement concluded, “Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.” The Eagles’ Sphere series currently stands as the band’s final planned performances, and an immersive opportunity to revisit the wonder of the legendary quartet’s golden age as they ride off into the sunset.
