Umphrey’s McGee have announced Top Note Sessions, the band’s so-called “next sonic adventure.” The event consists of recording sessions that take the form of a live show and is slated to occur over two nights, December 10 and 11, 2024. During the occasion, the group will occupy the 4th floor of Chicago’s iconic Metro, which has been transformed into a studio in tandem with the event.

To maintain the event’s intimate nature, Umphrey’s McGee will only sell 90 tickets per night, which will be released through a lottery. Participants who receive access can experience the live performance via wireless headphones “to ensure the fidelity and clarity of the studio recording.”

Adding context to the forthcoming event space, UM included via their website, “This historic building is rich with tradition, and Metro’s Top Note has stories to tell. From the first versions of “November Rain” taking shape inside the space, Top Note has hosted rehearsals and performances by Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Tori Amos, Henry Rollins, Smashing Pumpkins, and more. Join as UM channels the inspiration in those walls.”

A limited quantity of tickets will be available via a lottery request period. Requests can be submitted through Monday, November 25, at noon CT. Check out the links below for more ticketing information and to sign up now. For those unable to attend, livestream options are available via nugs.net.

Enter the lottery for UM’s Top Note Sessions on  Tuesday, December 10, and  Wednesday, December 11.
