Jack White has announced a pair of shows in Washington, D.C., continuing his string of spontaneous and intimate performances in support of his latest studio album No Name. The newest stops on White’s tour will be held on Aug. 26 and 27 at the hallowed alt underground havens of Black Cat and 9:30 Club.
White’s D.C. performances come with more notice than previous shows on his No Name tour, as the artist has taken to social media to announce the pair five days in advance. The musician elucidated his current unconventional touring approach in a viral statement posted to social channels earlier this month; in a sheet of text, he stated, “We won’t really be announcing dates in advance so much, we will mostly be playing small clubs, back yard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses. Shows will be announced as close to the show date as possible, some shows we won’t even decide to do until that morning.”
In his statement, the indie rock icon also disclosed that his spontaneous style tour began July 27 with an intimate gig at American Legion Post 82 in Nashville, and he has indeed been touring since then at various smaller-scale venues. “Lotta folks asking about when we are going to announce ‘tour dates,’ well, we don’t know what to tell you but the tour already started at the Legion a couple of weeks ago. People keep saying that these are ‘Pop up shows’ we’ve been playing, well, you can call them whatever you want, but we are on tour right now. These are ‘shows.’”
General on-sale for White’s D.C. shows go on sale Friday, Aug. 23 at 12 p.m. ET, with a presale for Third Man Vault members at 10 a.m. ET earlier that day. Fans can find their tickets on the Black Cat and 9:30 Club websites.
