New Orleans funk giants The Soul Rebels have announced a spring tour, uniting a slew of high-profile festival appearances in a two-month coastal sprint. The eight-piece ensemble will bring its distinctive brand of hip-hop-infused bayou jazz-funk to 14 engagements through June 23, following a May 3 hometown staging as part of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. This run will figure the band alongside such icons as Ghostface Killah, GZA, Chris Dave, Fred Wesley and more.

Following its Jazzfest opener, The Soul Rebels will glide to the Northeast for a May 16 performance at The Center for Arts at the Armory in Somerville, Mass., then bear south to a May 17 performance with renowned drummer and bandleader Chris Dave at New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club. After the encore, the group will return to New England for a show at Greenfield, Mass.’s Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center on May 19 before a five-show California run from May 25 to June 16, including a set at Napa, Calif’s BottleRock Napa Valley with Talib Kweli on May 26 and another at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl Jazz Fest with Seun Kuti on June 16.

Once its Golden State run has concluded, The Soul Rebels will return to the East Coast for five more shows, beginning with a stacked Juneteenth performance with Marcus Miller and the great Fred Wesley at Ardmore, Pa.’s Ardmore Music Hall on June 19. Next, the band will let loose the tiger style with GZA and Ghostface Killah at The Howard Theatre in Washington, then close out its tour with a three-night residency with Ghostface at New York’s Blue Note as part of the 2024 Blue Note Jazz Festival.
