Continuing traditions, The Rock and Roll Playhouse will once again host a celebration in honor of the Jewish holiday, Purim, by extending a family-friendly musical offering that leans into Phish’s extensive repertoire. The event will occur at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday, March 24. Phish tribute act Uncle Ebenezer will once again serve as the show’s house band and Alex Willick will narrate the Purim story.

The weekend gathering has been billed as a Purim Party, where parents and kids are encouraged to participate in the festivities, which taps into a carnival-like atmosphere, as the holiday functions as something reminiscent of Jewish Halloween and Mardi Gras–folks and littles are encouraged to come in costume.

Building on The Rock and Roll Playhouse’s legacy of family-friendly musical experiences, the Purim Partyd arrives before additional offerings that blanket the country and range from adaptations of popular music from Red Hot Chili Peppers to the Grateful Dead and other testaments to long-loved classics tweaked for kids like The Beatles, Prince, Bob Marley, and others.

In addition to various family-friendly events that pop up nationwide each weekend, The Rock and Roll Playhouse recently delivered its debut album, Friends Rock! The set focuses on rock music’s most recognizable anthems that appear in kid-ified form, shifted to presentation with age-appropriate consideration. The tracking list represents the ideal starting point for any young music lover, introducing them to modified favorites such as Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend,” Beatles’ “We Can Work It Out,” and more.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse’s Purim Party tickets are on sale now.
