Yo La Tengo co-founders Georgia Hubley and Ira Kaplan will take part in David Nagler’s The Oracle Show at New York’s Sid Gold’s Request Room this evening. The 33rd installment in the series, the thematic program is titled Abbreviations & Acronyms. Jeremy Haines, known for his work with Talking Heads tribute act I Get Wild and Project Jenny, Project Jan, will also serve as a special guest.
According to the venue, the program is Nagler’s long-running, special-guest-appearing piano show where songs are linked by themes. Previous themes have included “Numbers,” “Questions,” “Days & Nights” and “Life & Death.”
Past guests have included: Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley (of Sonic Youth), Will Sheff (of Okkervil River), Sally Timms (of The Mekons), Mark Eitzel (of American Music Club), Elizabeth Ziman (of Elizabeth & The Catapult), Michael Esper (from David Bowie’s Lazarus), Bridget St. John, Mic Murphy (of The System), and more.
