Last night, NBC‘s Christmas at Graceland aired, marking the first live musical holiday special ever to be televised at the Late Elvis Presley’s estate in Memphis. The broadcast showcased never-before-seen footage of the American icon along with live performances by today’s rock royalty, including Lana Del Ray, Post Malone, John Legend, Kasey Musgraves, Alanis Morissette, Kane Brown and Lainey Wilson.

The special took full advantage of Graceland, making it a character throughout the program and gave viewers a tour of the home, which has been a museum since 1982, through each of the performer’s covers.

Del Ray performed a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “Unchained Melody,” connecting to the spirit of Presley, which background singers bolstered. Morrissette highlighted the Christmas cheer with a punk version of “Last Christmas” in front of Elvis’ jet, as did Legend, who handled piano for “Happy Christmas (War Is Over)” with a choir.

Musgraves like Del Ray connected to the spirit of Elvis with a cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which was featured in the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 film Elvis. Post Malone bared his soul poolside for “(You’re The) Devil In Disguise,” completely solo before jumping in Graceland’s pool.
