Last night, Oct. 7, Little Feat took the stage at New York’s Town Hall venue in the Theatre District of Midtown Manhattan. During the Big Apple performance, the ensemble brought out a pair of special guests, Scott Metzger and Southside Johnny, who added to the night’s rendition of fan favorite, “Dixie Chicken.”
The song choice saw billed players Bill Payne, Sam Clayton, Kenny Gradney, Freed Tackett, Scott Sharrard and Tony Leone bring up some help as they arrived on the title track from their 1973 release album. Metzger added his signature guitar riffs during the run-through to the Lowell George-penned composition, which was truly made special with Payne’s unmatched display on the keyboard.
During the tune, Little Feat turned over stage time and the song’s lyrical lead to Southside Johnny, who belted out the favored lines with his harmonica in hand and ready for added tonality, which complemented the overall flow of the tune with added dimension and a sense of Southern flair.
To follow last night’s memorable performance, Little Feat will resume their tour on Monday, Oct. 9, with a concert at Boston’s The Wilbur. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased here.
