Blue Note Jazz Club has announced the fifth annual return of Robtober, a residency featuring Grammy-award-winning pianist, producer, and songwriter Robert Glasper. The series commences on October 4, with two performances to roll out each evening. During the artist’s extended stay, he’ll welcome various special guests. 

 The initial residency dates will see Glasper pay tribute to piano giants prior to the arrival of his first guest on Oct. 6 through 8, featuring Yebba. From there, Norah Jones will fill the role of guest contributor from Oct. 11 through 15. In continuation, the main act will welcome Moonchild’s Amber Navran on Oct. 18 and 19. 

Next, Glasper will host a Dinner Party with Terrace Martin and Kamasi Washington on Oct. 21 and 22. As the month goes on, he’ll also bring out 9th Wonder out on Oct. 22, followed by a two-night tribute to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. On Oct. 27 and 29, D Smoke arrives as a special guest. The final special additions to Robtober include Yassin Bey featuring Chris Dave, Derrick Hodge, and DJ Jahi Sundance from Nov. 1 through 5. 

Commenting on Glasper’s long-standing relationship with the Blue Note, Blue Note Entertainment Group president Steven Bensusan offered, “We’ve seen Robert grow from performing on our stage as a sideman to becoming a band leader, musical director, producer, curator, and Grammy award winner in the Jazz, Urban Contemporary & R&B categories.”

“His musical diversity and range is extraordinary. This month-long residency allows us to support his creativity, allow him to revisit old projects as well as to experiment with new collaborations,” Bensusan concluded.
