In anticipation of July 4, The Milk Carton Kids have teamed with Garrison Starr for a version of her song “Fireworks.”   Joey Ryan, The Milk Carton Kids’ guitarist/vocalist, notes, “’Fireworks’ has always been one of my favorite Garrison Starr songs. There’s nothing like being lonely during a national celebration. Garrison and I were roommates a decade ago when I was starting out in LA. She’d be singing in the living room or just walking around the house and I’d say to myself in disbelief, “I live with one of our generation’s great voices.” Kenneth complements her so well on guitar, and we wrote a big three-part harmony arrangement for the bridge. I was just honored she wanted to record this song together all these years later.” The track is currently available to stream/share.

In May, Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale released I Only See the Moon their latest studio album as The Milk Carton Kids and the follow-up to 2019’s The Only Ones. In a recent Relix feature, Ryan revealed, “Any partnership between two people is an incredibly complex and different dynamic. Our relationship has been through every phase, including completely dysfunctional and horrible to totally joyful and productive. For the last couple of years, including the entire process of making this album—just the two of us in a room for a year—I’m happy that this is the best our relationship has ever been. In no small part, that contributes to how happy we are with the way the record turned out. This is our favorite album we’ve made.”

In September, The Milk Carton Kids will take to the road in support of the new record, with the tour dates listed below the “Fireworks” stream.
