Beloved and highly-acclaimed guitarist and singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt has been forced to postpone her headlining tour dates in May and cancel her appearance at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend due to a medical situation that requires surgery. Raitt was also advised by doctors to rest for a few weeks in order to heal properly from the unspecified procedure.

Originally, Raitt was set to embark on a short U.S. tour, starting with the Mothership Weekend on May 14 and continuing with shows in Athens on May 17, Louisville on May 19, Indianapolis on May 20, and Pittsburgh on May 23. However, due to her medical condition, the Louisville and Indianapolis shows have been rescheduled for June 30 and July 1, respectively. The performances in Athens and Pittsburgh have been postponed until sometime in 2024, with the specific dates to be announced later.

“We deeply apologize for this delay and inconvenience,” wrote Bonnie’s team in a statement. “It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen. Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows, but we’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, June 1st.”

Tickets for postponed dates are expected to remain valid once the new shows are announced.
