Sam Grisman Project will embark on its spring tour next week. The ensemble, which is known for performing choice covers from David “Dawg” Grisman and Jerry Garcia’s individual and intertwined archives along with exemplary originals, will kick things off on Friday, March 30, at The Winchester in Lakewood, Ohio, before trucking along the East Coast in continuation of their musical excursion.
Following the band’s first night on the road, Sam Grisman, Ric Robertson, Chris English and Aaron Lipp will take the stage at Pittsburgh’s Thunderbird Cafe & Music Hall on March 31. Additional concert dates will occur on April 1 and 2, when the musicians arrive at Geneseo Riviera Threatre in Geneseo, N.Y., where they’re scheduled to participate in a two-night stand.
After a day off, Sam Grisman Project will resume its tour on April 4 at Boston’s City Winery. The Bean Town slot will come before the jammer’s April 5 concert at Garcia’s in Port Chester, N.Y., and an ensuing show at the acclaimed Brooklyn Bowl venue in Williamsburg, N.Y.
The East Coast-focused run will bring the friends/performers to Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pa., on April 7, before a follow-up in Newmarket, N.H., at the Stone Church venue on April 8, and a subsequent gig at Infinity Music Hall in Hartford, Conn., on April 9.
The final tour dates will be April 11 at Philadelphia’s Milkboy, followed by an April 12 show at the esteemed Daryl’s House location in Pawling, N.Y. The steady stream of spring dates arrives after the group’s winter run, which brought them through the Southeastern region of the U.S. in late winter.
On the same day as their first spring tour date, the group’s namesake, Sam Grisman will participate in a special Ask Me Anything session via the Grateful Dead’s Reddit thread on March 30 at 6 p.m. E.T. Watch the promo video here.
