James Casey has teased the first track, “New Bloom,” off his forthcoming solo debut, The Kaua’i Project. The song will be shared in full on March 14. After the tune’s debut, the musician will follow up on March 21 by dropping an accompanying music video, which he has teased today.

The song and video carry a message of manifesting positivity and overcoming obstacles and will be shared during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The new track emphasizes Casey’s refusal to let his own cancer diagnosis prevent him from continuing his work and making an impact on the world around him.

“New Bloom” spotlights the notion of music as medicine and came about through a year of self-discovery on the remote Hawaiian island of Kaua’i. The number presents a mantra of soulful jazz, smooth beats, and raw emotion, as presented by Casey.

In addition to the track, the impending music video, which Brad Hasse directed, was created with the support of Olympus Corporation of the Americas–a global leader in medical technology–and aims to capture a visual story of hope alongside other New York City creatives who have been impacted by cancer.

The forthcoming album is Casey’s second time melding music and advocacy after the musician dropped a Christmas EP, A Little Something For Everyone, on 12-23 Records, a nonprofit label of the Nancy Langhorne Foundation. Read more here.
