On March 14, a new book written by the late Lou Reed entitled, The Art of the Straight Line: My Tai Chi will be released via HarperOne. The collection of previously unpublished writings relates to the musician’s longstanding martial arts practice, as well as music and meditation.

Reed began engaging in tai chi in the 1980s and practiced until his passing in 2013. The new book, which features a forward penned by the late artist’s partner, Laurie Anderson, contains “unpublished writings on the technique, practice, and purpose of martial arts, as well as essays, observations, and riffs on meditation and life,” according to the publisher.

The book was compiled and edited by Anderson with Stephen Berwick, Bob Currie and Scott Richman and tracks discussions between fellow musicians and tai chi practitioners Iggy Pop,  Tony Visconti, Julian Schnabel and Hal Willner.
