Last night, Tuesday, Nov. 1, Connecticut-based indie-groove jamband Goose made their late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. During the performance, which was part of Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s concert series, the quintet performed “Hungersite” from their critically acclaimed album Dripfield, which was released on June 24.
Ahead of the performance, host of the show Jimmy Kimmel said, “There is a lot of excitement about this band. I’ve heard from every one of my friends who does mushrooms this week in advance of their appearance here tonight.”
The musical segment saw guitarist and singer Rick Mitarotonda take center stage as he serenaded a live audience and viewers across the country. Bassist Trevor Weeks grooved to his right as Peter Anspach skillfully and seamlessly added piano, organ and vocals to the studio-style rendition of the song – which many fans have heard elongated and pushed to its limits in live settings since its release – to his left.
As always, Ben Atkind served steadily on drums while fellow percussionist Jeff Arevalo added vocals and bouncing rhythm on conga drums and gong. Despite the made-for-TV take of the fan-favorite, Mitarotonda made sure to showcase the guitar chops that have helped raise Goose to such great heights with a short guitar solo, evoking cheers from the audience before the ensemble brought the song to a close.
Goose’s TV debut comes ahead of their eight-show tour with Trey Anastasio Band beginning on Nov. 9 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine.
