Artists for the Prevention of School Shootings and Youth Violence has announced an upcoming docu-concert screening for A Father’s Promise at City Winery in Nashville, Tenn. The one-night viewing event are slated to take place on Nov. 30, with proceeds benefiting Sandy Hook Promise. 

The upcoming City Winery showing is part of a series of docu-concerts leading up to the release of A Father’s Promise, which follows the journey of world-class musician and Sandy Hook parent Mark Barden, who survived unbelievable tragedy when he lost his young son in- and, in turn, became a force of change. The movie doubles as a 10-year remembrance for the 26 children and educators unjustly taken on Dec. 14, 2012, in the worst school shooting tragedy in United States history. 

The video content that will be on display at the City Winery event promises a mix of live performances led by The Promise Band, comprised of Jimmy Vivino, Mark and Natalie Barden, Freddie Ravel, Eric Finland, John Conte, Rich Pagano, joined by various heavy hitters, including Sheryl Crow, Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town, Alternate Routes, and more.

In a press release shared by Barden, Co-Founder and CEO of Sandy Hook Promise he explained: “My 3 children, James, Natalie and Daniel, were very intimately connected to my music and are all musicians in their own right.” He continued, “For me, playing music with my children has always been indescribably powerful and joyous.  After Daniel’s murder, I was unable to find comfort in music.” 

Barden concluded his statement, adding, “Over time, and with the help and support of my family, friends and the music community, I have been able find my way back my first, real self through creating and performing music again.  This documentary project has become another way for me to connect and heal through music and honor Daniel’s life and memory.”
