Last night, Guster and The Wood Brothers performed at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards in LaFayette, N.Y. The ensembles delivered two separate sets before collectively stepping out to perform Bob Dylan’s influential track, “I Shall Be Released.”
The two bands are currently on a joint tour, which began on June 9 at Maymont Park in Richmond, Va. They made two additional appearances after their tour opener, on June 10 at Freeman Stage in Selbyville, Del., and June 11 at Midway Lawn in Essex Junction, Vt., prior to last night’s gig at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards.
The Wood Brothers’ 12-song set got underway last night with a taste of Kingdom In My Mind on “Alabaster.” They performed fan favorites, “Wastin’ My Mind,” “The Muse” and “Luckiest Man Alive,” ahead of a cover of the Dylan penned, “I Shall Be Released,” which involved a return to the stage by Guster, who sat in on the monumental number.
Aside from last night’s exciting cover, it’s been a big weekend for Guster, who welcomed Phish’s Mike Gordon during the band’s set at Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vt., on Friday. The bassists lent a groove on a cover of The Pixies’ “Here Comes Your Man” and the Guster original, “Ruby Falls.”
