Sounds of Savings in partnership with OFFAIR and Public Records have announced they will host a benefit featuring musical performances by hypnotic psychedelic musician Nick Hakim, Grammy-award-winning bassist Meshell Ndegeocello and DJ Tedd Patterson. The one-night-only event is slated for June 1 at Public Records’ Sound Room in Brooklyn, N.Y.

100% of net proceeds from the evening will go toward the Sounds of Saving Therapy grant program, which supplies fans of the participating artists with up to 12 therapy session vouchers, programming for high school and college students that involves music, access to mental health resources and educational advancement.

Ndegeocello, who also sits on the board of Sounds of Saving said in a statement, “I grew up with someone who tried to end their life more than once and I myself have known despair.” He continued, “My own mental health has been best and often helped through therapists and music, and SoS understands and promotes the value of both. This organization, like music, makes the sharing of pain the work of the strong, not the weak.”

Co-founder of Sounds of Savings, Nick Greto, added, “We are living through an unprecedented mental health crisis – especially for young people – and are at a crossroads for making impactful change. SoS is thrilled to work side by side with such incredible artists and partners who share our values, to ignite hope and inspire action. Together we can get support and resources to music fans and artists in need.”

Sounds of Savings is a 501(c)3 music and mental health non-profit that produces video content, experiences and events to bring awareness, education, resources and direct paths to treatment. The organization aims to assist youth, especially those in marginalized communities.

Tickets for the benefit are on sale now and can be purchased here. To learn more about the organization, visit soundsofsaving.org.
