On a recent episode of Marc Brownstein’s Twitter Spaces show The Lively Hour, the Disco Biscuits bassist was speaking to Maggie Rose when composer Don Hart stopped by for an unannounced visit and dropped the news that American Idol star Taylor Hicks has recorded an original song written by Trey Astasio that will appear on Osiris Media’s Sugar Maple podcast.
The podcast network’s first fiction podcast, Sugar Maple, is narrated by longtime Phish fan Fred Savage and features contributions by composer Don Hart, known for his deep collaborative relationships with Anastasio. Recently, Rose shared her tune, “Two Arms to Hold Onto,” on the broadcast.
Hicks, who will lend his signature vocals on the forthcoming track, has deep roots in the jamband community and actually played in a Widespread Panic cover band before achieving international notoriety.
Phish lyricist Tom Marshall and Osiris co-founder R.J. Bee will appear on the next episode of The Lively Hour, which airs this evening at 8 p.m.
Ok finished the first episode of the Sugar Maple podcast and got the chills right in the last scene. Good job @JuliusGoat @TomMarshall111 @hartmus and crew
