Greensky Bluegrass continued their winter run in Birmingham, Ala., last night at Iron City. The ensemble was joined by Infamous Stringduster Andy Hall on “Lose My Way” and incorporated elements of Talking Heads’ “Cities” into show ender, “Don’t Lie.”

The show began with “Absence of Reason” followed by a smoking rendition of “Tied Down” before continuing with “200 Miles to Montana” off the 2008 LP, Five Interstates.

Next, the band performed “Reasons to Stay” off 2022’s Stress Dreams and followed up with “Old Glory” and “Burn Them,” featuring tambourine instrumentation. “Do Hard” came next, and then Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters joined in on “Lose My Mind.” Hall stuck around for set closer “Fixin’ To Ruin,” which featured woodblock accompaniment.

The second set opened with “Before Bring Out Your Dead,” which segued into “Bring Out Your Dead.” Next, Greensky Bluegrass performed “Wish I Didn’t Know” into “New & Improved.”

The band followed up with another number off Stress Dreams, “Cut a Tooth.” “A Letter to Seymour” off 2014’s If Sorrows Swim preluded “Give a Shit.” The second set closed out with a pairing of “Worry For You” and “Don’t Lie,” which included elements of Talking Head’s “Cities.”

For their encore, Greensky Bluegrass returned to the stage to play “Forget Everything” to wrap the Birmingham billing. Next, the band will head to Atlanta, Ga. for a two-night stand on Feb. 25 and 26 at The Tabernacle.
